RHTCC2017Story.jpgSaturday, September 23, 2017 was a sensational day. As dawn broke, road hockey warriors marched into the parking lot of Woodbine Racetrack, ready to take on the seventh annual Scotiabank® Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer event.

The opening ceremonies crystallized the reason why 1,750 of us gathered at Woodbine Racetrack that day. Nearly 1 in 2 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, our Road Hockey warriors played hockey all day long, united in the fight to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime.

On Saturday morning, we announced the event has raised over $16 million for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre since inception. 150 teams, over 1,750 players, 200 volunteers made it happen, and helped us reach $2.6 Million alone in 2017.  Thank you for your contributions, hard-work and passion for this cause.

Awards were also presented to the Top Fundraising Individual, Ken Tanenbaum; the Top Fundraising Team, Ovarian Blitzers; the Top All Female Fundraising Team, Pirates of the Cure-ibbean; and the Corporate Challenge Cup went to Hatch, led by Bruce MacKay.

This is our best event to date! A complete success. We also set a new Guinness World Record for the largest road hockey fundraising event in the world for 2017.

We aim to crush that number once again in 2018.
